Maya’s Vision
It’s time to break with the status quo to meet the moment.
As our communities change and grow, we must become be more responsive, more transparent, and more inclusive.
Maya’s Priorities For A Thriving County
Over the last several decades, I have worked with countless people and organizations across the Puget Sound region, all seeking to build a strong community for themselves and their families. With this experience, I have identified priorities to get to work strengthening King County.
Make Every Dollar Count in King County.
My unique combination of public service and financial expertise underscores my passionate belief in the importance of promoting financial accountability and transparency. I will ensure every Council decision is data-driven, publicly accessible, and made with community input to build trust and responsible governance. We must have a fresh approach to address the $160-180million county budget shortfall.
New Approaches to Big Challenges
From housing, to public safety, to accessible treatment options, I will passionately bring my project management and problem solving experience to work for new solutions grounded in our existing resources. I know how to find efficiencies within complex systems, and will always prioritize effective, economically sustainable policies that are sustainable.
Open The Door to New Leadership
In our ever-changing communities, leadership must stay in close touch with the people’s priorities. When serving on the Kent School Board, I made a pledge to honor term limits and stepped aside for new leadership after two terms. I will never be a career politician, but instead dedicate myself as an Independent Democrat to be honest and confront the status quo when it’s not working for our communities.
Partner With Parents, Strengthen Our Schools
I have seen how public education changes lives and is directly linked to economic opportunities. With my strong community leadership experience, I will support students, families and schools by building partnerships across the region, fostering safe and secure neighborhoods, and ensuring every resident has the same access to high-quality education, essential resources, and lifelong learning opportunities. I’ll continue to champion honesty, educational excellence, and meaningful collaboration between families, nonprofits, and schools.
